I am going to dive into this week's topic, "Your Jumpoff, His Wifey." Here is the scenario:
Chris is in college and he is considered THE Ladies' Man on campus. It is not a secret that Chris has had many "conquests" while in school. Chris is married now and has lost touch with any woman he has ever had relations with in college.
At a BBQ, one of Chris' closest friends, Carlton, brings a date and according to Carlton, it is getting serious. Now Chris and Carlton did not go to college together. When Chris finally comes to realize that he knows Carlton's date from college and they had relations, he goes into panic mode.
What does Chris do in this situation? Does he tell Carlton, his homeboy, about the "past" or does he leave Carlton in the dark???
SPEAK OUT!!!!

Daaaaaaamn! VERY glad I've never been in that situation. My take...leave it in the past. It's a gamble, cuz she may decide to tell Carlton that she "knows" Chris which raises a flag for any dude with half a brain. If Chris and shorty can exchange words briefly and privately...they should agree to leave it in the past and to never speak of it again...and all will be well in Love and Friendship. If Chris decides to tell Carlton, I'm not really seeing what good that will do. Yeah, it may clear the air of any potential issues by being up front, but all parties involved have to be able to get beyond the past, leave it there mentally and emotionally, and detach it from their present friendships and relationships. All easier said than done.
ReplyDeleteCarlton may appreciate the honesty up front, or he may punch Chris in the lip and drop shorty from his life. It's a judgement call on how you think your boy will respond and what you think, as a friend, is best for him to be happy.
